Eight die of dengue, 2,036 hospitalised in 24 hours

Eight people have died of dengue in Bangladesh in the past 24 hours, while 2,036 patients were admitted to hospitals across the country during the same period.
The figures were released on Monday by the Health Emergency Operation Centre and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Of the new patients, 254 were admitted in Barishal division, 323 in Chattogram, 432 in Dhaka division outside the city corporations, 206 under Dhaka North City Corporation and 169 under Dhaka South City Corporation.
Another 267 patients were admitted in Khulna division, 115 in Mymensingh, 197 in Rajshahi, 62 in Rangpur and 11 in Sylhet.
A total of 75,730 dengue patients have been admitted to hospitals across Bangladesh so far this year.
The latest eight deaths have taken the country’s dengue death toll this year to 233.
Bangladesh recorded 1,02,861 dengue hospitalisations and 413 deaths in 2025.
In 2024, 1,01,214 people were hospitalised with dengue and 575 died.
The country recorded its worst dengue outbreak in 2023, when 3,21,179 people were hospitalised and 1,705 died from the disease.
